It’s quiet out here on Sundays. These are the sort of rural roads that are clear during church hours. In some Southern Baptist towns church is often twice on Sunday, with the parishioners attending both morning and evening services. For many of these people church is their social life, their network, their extended family. In times of crisis and in times of celebration, the poor along these dusty roads will wear only their absolute best to Sunday Services. So, the little pink sweater is in homage to young girl cleaned up for Sunday School, carrying her white book of illustrated Bible stories in one hand, and a penny for the collection plate in the other.
